Runes:

Viking

Most ancient oracles remain silent on their original origins and runes are no diffrent giving scholars no definites to research by, the origins of the runes remain a mystery to this day. The Vikings had their own runes which they believed were the gift of Ódhinn, who discovered them after hanging nine days on Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life, as a voluntary sacrifice.  Some legends say that Ódhinn received the Runes in a vision, others that he was given the Runes by his uncle, the Giant, Mimir, or by Freyya, his wife.
